Digital learning content is changing.  Today’s e-learning content seeks to exist in small chunks linked to learning objectives and competencies.  It should be easy to update, reuse and repurpose.  Today’s learners and instructors want to find the learning content they need now, not take an entire course to address one or two competencies.

Yet millions of hours of valuable learning content are locked in proprietary formats and linear courses that mimic textbooks and training manuals.  This content is usually created with a proprietary authoring tool that hard-wires content with navigation and course structure.  Only experts that know the authoring tool can access the content to update and reuse, and only those that know how the tool was used to build the course can update the course structure and enhance the learning experience.
