Start with a blank, formatted
diskette (available in the lab).
Place it in the A: drive
on your computer.
a file called LOTT.EXE. When prompted, check
Run this program from its current location. You may get a warning message
that "The publisher could not be determined .." Ignore this (i.e.,
click YES to continue). This will create two folders, one called
MINICOURSE and one called TUTORIAL on your diskette. The TUTORIAL folder will
contain a folder called images. The MINICOURSE folder will contain a folder
called MYHALLOWEEN.
HINT:To see your A: drive, hold down the Windows key (between CTRL
and ALT on the lower left-hand side of your keyboard) and press "E".
This will bring up Windows explorer. If you save a file instead of executing
it from its current location, go directly to the A: drive and double click
on it to execute it.
Click on the pumpkins
in the Virtual Pumpkin Patch to the right..
If all you see is a silly
image, try another pumpkin.
If you see a page that
says "you have found a piece of the tutorial",
"you have found a learning object"
or "you have found the manifest file",
follow the instructions carefully. Five pieces of the tutorial (.html files)
will be saved in the TUTORIAL folder. Two learning objects and one manifest
(an xml file) will be saved in the MINICOURSE folder. Do not do anything other
than save the files at this time.
You should collect FIVE
TUTORIAL PIECES, TWO LEARNING OBJECTS, and ONE MANIFEST FILE. When you are
done, your diskette should contain exactly the following file structure (see
hint in step 2 to check it out). SCO1, SCO2, and MYHALLOWEEN are learning
objects. Everything else in the MINICOURSE folder are associated resources
used by these objects.
